I forgot my password and/or my password hint. What do I do?

If you forget your password, please go to the "Password Hint / Reset" page. If you entered a "password hint" when you registered as a Snabbo member, we will send you that hint. If not, we will send you an auto-generated password which you can then use to login to your account and create a new personal password.

Scrollable Lists

Snabbo uses "scrollable lists" in order to present large amounts of data in small spaces. There is a "scroll bar" on the right hand side of each list. This feature enables you to slide the scroll bar down in order to view the list in its entirety.

Form Input Hints

On some form inputs, there is a link just below the input. Clicking on the link will pop open a longer description to help you determine what you should enter into that field.

"See More" Lists

"See More" links are located on brown or green category bars throughout the website. Clicking on the link expands the list out beyond just the few items in the preview and produces a "scroll bar" on the right hand side of the catagory list. This feature enables you to slide the scroll bar down in order to view the list in its entirety.

Registration & Activation

How old do I have to be in order to join?

You must have been born between the years of 1936 and 1969 in order to join. Snabbo is a social network exclusively for Baby Boomers, and allowing anyone not in that demographic would lessen the quality of the experience we seek to provide.

Why do you need my zip / postal code?

Snabbo uses zip codes for geographic proximity searches to help members connect with one another. Your zip / postal code and other mailing address information, should you choose to fill it out on your profile, will never be revealed to another member unless you authorize it.

Why do I need to activate my account?

We ask new members to confirm their email address in order to prevent spam and to ensure that someone did not register on their behalf without permission.

Privacy & Security

Why should I enter a password hint?

If you enter a password hint and subsequently forget your password, you can have your password hint emailed to you by clicking on the "Forgot your password?" link on the home or login pages. If you do not enter a password hint, your password will automatically be reset for you in the event that you forget it.

Why do I often receive an email notifying me that my profile has been updated? Is there any way to turn it off?

Snabbo takes your privacy seriously. If your profile has been modified in any given 24 hour period, we automatically notify you via email. This is a security measure to ensure that the changes which were made were initiated by you. Disabling the notification would remove this safeguard, and therefore Snabbo does not allow members to do so.

Another member is pestering me or is some way behaving in a way not in line with Snabbo's Terms of Use. What do I do?

You can report abuse by using our contact form. If the member is your friend on Snabbo, you can start by letting the person know that his/her conduct is unwelcome. If that does not solve the problem, you may remove the member as a Snabbo friend, after which he/she will not be allowed to send you greetings or personal messages. If the member is a in the same group as you, you may ask the group owner to block the member from the group as his/her discretion.

Member Community

Why should I fill out all the information requested for my profile page?

The more information you provide about yourself, the greater the opportunity that old friends can find you. As we build the Snabbo community, you are helping to build a large database of information for others to reconnect as well.

Edit Your Profile

If I need to stop during the process of filling out my profile information, how do I pick up where I left off?

You may stop at any time during the process of filling out your profile information. You can return to the process in a number of ways. Once you are logged back into your Snabbo account you will be taken to "My Home Page". From here you can click on the brown button on the upper right hand corner that reads "View Profile". Once you are on your "Member Profile" page, you can click on the "Edit" links located on the "Contact Information" or "My History" green bars. You will be directed back to those pages where you can continue entering your information.

Who can see my profile?

By default, only members whom you have added as friends may view your profile. If you want any member to see your profile, you may select the second option. If you want anyone on the Internet to be able to see your profile, select the third option. This is useful if you wish to use Snabbo to be found by users searching the Internet. Just remember that anything in your profile will be accessible to everyone.

What is "Express Yourself!" ?

Express Yourself!

Snabbo invites you to share insightful thoughts and/or status messages for other members to see. Your latest comment will appear on your profile. "Express Yourself!" often so your friends know what you're up to.

How do I upload my profile photo?

Here are some tips to help you get started:

  • Most pharmacies, camera stores, office supply, and copy centers have a self-serve scanner kiosk that you can use to copy ("burn") your photos onto a compact disk (CD) or USB flash drive.
  • You can also leave your photos and have them scanned by photo lab technicians at any of the above locations.

Groups

What are the differences between privacy levels?

The group privacy level determines who will be allowed to join it. Groups that have Open membership allow any Snabbo member to join regardless of what criteria the group owner selects. Restricted groups only have members that meet the criteria the owner sets. Both Open and Restricted groups will show up in search results initiated by Snabbo members. Private groups, however, will not appear in group search results and can only be joined by members who are explicitly invited by a current member of the group.

Photos

What is photo album privacy?

Snabbo gives you ability to customize the privacy settings for each album you create. You may allow any member to view an album or allow only your friends to view it. Bear in mind, however, that members who are not your friends will only be able to view an album if you allow them to view your profile, even if the album itself is open to them.

What does the "Album Cover" field do?

When you check this option, the photo you are currently uploading will be set as the photo album's thumbnail image. You can also change an album's thumbnail by clicking on it's "Edit" link on the main photo albums screen.
